Two Trumpian developments of interest to employers will occur on March 15, next Wednesday:

Look out!

Alex Acosta's confirmation hearing is scheduled to take place that day. Mr. Acosta is President Trump's nominee for Secretary of Labor, and is expected to have relatively smooth sailing. On the other hand, is there anything that has been "smooth" about the President's first months in office?

A federal court in Hawaii will hear that state's motion for a temporary restraining order that would block the President's new "travel ban" Executive OrderĀ from taking effect. The hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Hawaiian time, which is 3:30 p.m. Eastern. Because of the time difference, the EO is scheduled to take effect for everyone in time zones west of the Eastern Time Zone on Wednesday the 15th. For Easterners, it will take effect at 12:01 a.m. EDT. Just in case you didn't see it, Will Krasnow of our Boston Office and Jeanette Phelan of our Jacksonville Office have the details of the new version of the EO here. (A link to Hawaii's motion is included.)
